About the project

The project Discovering Europe is a partnership between schools in Germany (the coordinator), Spain, Finland, Poland and the Netherlands. With this project all the partners promote intercultural dialogue within their own countries and between the partner countries. Similarly, we are fostering the European dimension in education and diversifying the learning environment through the use of Information and Communication Technologies. In that sense we use ICT to create, communicate and share.

This weblog is a place where we publish the final products and results of the shared activities. Several school subjects are involved (history, geography, foreign languages, economics, arts, music and sciences). The weblog is also suitable for collaborative online writing thus enhancing the intercultural exchange and exhange of different ideas and points of view. Through these activities the concept of the unification of Europe becomes alive. The project meetings of pupils and teachers in partner countries contribute to the improvement of communicative skills, as foreign languages are used in authentic situations. Also, with help of the funding, pupils get more equal opportunities to travel to Europe. In that case travelling does not depend so much on the financial situation of the family.

The project “Discovering Europe” enhances the multicultural aspect of our school and gives more equal chances for our pupils to participate in European cooperation. Intercultural questions are dealt with in the project and we hope develop students' intercultural awareness. One of the main objectives is to teach the students some tolerance, so that culture, beliefs and values will be mutually respected.
