Christmas in Poland
This is an unique time when people try to be kind, friendly and generous to one another. They seem to forget all their problems, quarrels and just enjoy being together. Christmas are preceded by many days of preparation.Streets are lit by coloured lamps;shops are full of people buying presents, choosing Christmas cards;Christmas trees are set up in every home and decorated with sparkling tinsel, candles, chains, toys and trinkets. The atmosphere is excitement and expectation can be felt almost everywhere. The moments everyone waits for is Christmas Eve.When the first star appears in the sky, people take seal at the Christmas table. They do not forget leaving an empty place for an unexpected guest. The table is convered with white tablecloth and hay is spread on it.

Christmas in Poland is beautiful. We decorate Christmas trees , we prepare traditional dishes: we eat carp, dumplings, herring, cabbage with peas we share wafer, sing carols and receive presents.
Everything on that day is exceptional.
We spend it often with whole family. On next days of Christmas we go to family and there together we spend time.
The photos were taken by me this Christmas.

Christmas Eve

Christmas in Poland is so beautiful. People in Poland are very nice and helpful for everyone. Before Christmas Eve people sweep and do crazy shoping. They buy presents for family and food for Christmas supper. Next they decorate Christmas trees. Some of them decorate trees on Christmas Eve. On the Christmas Eve we eat twelve dishes. People leave one plate for unprospective guest. When the first star comes up Polish people start eating. On the supper we eat fish for example carps and herrings. We don't eat meat then. We don't drink wine. We drink compote with shrivel apples, plums and pears. After Christmas Eve supper we sing carols and we unpack presents. Before midnight we go to church on ceremonial Mass. I love Xmas because then I spend time with my family and it's got a specific cermonial tone.

People are enjoying themselves.
In this time sorrows and worries are disappearing.
Mrs home are cooking big quantities of food for eve.

At midnight, people gather in church on shepherdess.
