"International Autumn" - a poem by a Dutch student, Robbert van Tilborg

International Autumn

Seasons give colours,
seasons repeat,
but no season as coloured
as autumn can be.

Autumn brings rainfall,
autumn brings moss,
but no creation shines
as a fallen down leaf does.

A leaf in many colours,
a leaf in perfect peace.
They fall down from the trees
in silent harmony.

Then at the bottom, at the ground,
warmed by summer still.
It’s where they rest,
till rainfall takes the leafs downhill.

There they form a wall of many,
curved and edged, down in the beam.
Big and small, red and green,
as in one big, painted stream.

They don’t bother different colours, types or whatever tree they’re from,
They just work together and make sure,
that after winter, the next spring will come.

When we as humans work together,
and refill our cultural lack.
The little Autumn deep inside us,
would get it’s shining colour back.
