REGIONAL DISHES: ORELLAS BY SPANISH STUDENTS

The "Orellas" is a typical dessert of Galicia.

In Carnival we dress-up, we eat pork meat and "orellas".

INGREDIENTS:

400 g flour, 2 eggs, 100 g
butter, water, salt , anisette, baking powder, olive oil, sugar.

PREPARATION:

The butter must be soft. In a bowl, mix the flour with the
baking powder, and make a hole in the middle. Add the eggs, sugar, water, anisette and butter.

Mix it slowly and, then, knead the dough on a floury table, so it becomes elastic, not sticky, and soft, adding more water or flour if necessary. Leave it for half an hour and make the “orellas”. To make “orellas”:

Take pieces of 50g of dough and extend it on a floury table and make it very fine. Then cut it in smaller pieces and fry them, in a frying pan full of very hot olive oil. Fry them on both sides. Then, put some sugar on them.
