Traditional instruments from the Harz region/ Germany
Whip crackers
It is not a music instrument, but people use it to make music. We talk about whips.
If there is a big event in our region, especially in villages around our town men make this kind of music.
People have to practise to make the sounds and they must have a musical hearing.
They wear traditional clothes as you can see in the pictures.

Concert of traditional Galician music
CONCERT OF GALICIAN TRADITIONAL INSTRUMENTS
AT OUR SCHOOL
The project started last year with a talk and an exhibition of a traditional Galician instrument: the “zanfoña”.
This year the students worked on the different kinds of instruments and did 4 presentations adding videos with the sounds of these instruments that you can see and hear in this blog.
The students have also been making some traditional instruments made of wood. Very soon you will be able to see in this blog drawings of traditional instruments done by the students.
Last but not least at the end of April there was a concert of traditional music at the school, where the students could participate singing, clapping and even trying to play the instruments. You can see the photos and videos of this event in this article.
Visit to the Netherlands by Spanish students
VISIT TO THE NETHERLANDS BY THE SPANISH STUDENTS
6 – 12 APRIL 2010
My impression about the exchange with Holland is undoubtedly very good.
First, I think that it was a very good idea to chat with the Dutch people and choose our partner and avoid having to live with a person that we don't like.
The teachers and the students had an excursion each day, in Holland and in Spain, and after showing us the most beautiful sights of each city they left us alone one hour or two to do what we wanted, something I think it's great. It would be boring if we had to stay always with the teachers.
I loved the idea to visit another country, Belgium.
The Dutch high school is beautiful and the teachers very nice, and also the restaurant where we ate the last day is fantastic.
And last but not least, Holland is wonderful, we had a lot of luck because we didn't see the rain, we had always sunny days.
I will never forget this exchange.
Raquel Crespo
Well,I think this exchange was a really interesting trip because I met really different peolpe ,and now I love holland ,it is a really different country from Spain: the customs, the houses, the different way of life… While we go by car in Spain, they go by bike.
The group of Spanish people were really united and we took care of each other.
It was a really good experience and I look forward to repeating it.
Tania
Hello!!
This exchange was very special for me because it was the first I did.
The visits in Holland were beautiful but for my taste there were a lot of museums about paintings.
One of the things I liked most was the silence that there was at night because there were no cars, and I think it's really fun to ride a bike with Laura and our partners, we were almost always together with the bike when we went out at night .At first it was very difficult to control the bike but then we moved all the way laughing and talking.
Joost's familyy was very pleasent and nice.
In this exchange I met a lot of new friends, very good friends, i think that when you spend a lot of time with them they become part of you.
In the future if I can, I´ll repeat it again and come back to Holland!!

Our trip to Finland/Suomi started on 1st March 2010.
On the first day we flew at 12.25 from Berlin/Tegel to Helsinki/Vantaa with Airberlin. We arrived in Helsinki one hour later. Then our exchange families took us from Vantaa airport. Next we drove to our homes in Helsinki with our exchange families. The whole day we were at home and watched TV or ate something. Then it was late and we went to bed at ten o'clock.
On the second day we get up at eight o'clock, ate something and then we walked to the Jakomäki School. The school started at half past nine. The teachers in the school showed us the whole school and every room. For examble the music room, the home economics room and the computer room.
After the school visit, we went by bus to the city and went shoping. Later in the evening we were at home and ate something like pizza and then we went to bed.
On the third day we were in the school, too for breakfast and lunch because we cooked together. Later we did a bus tour around Helsinki. It was very exciting. We saw buildings like the Lutheran Cathedral or the city hall.
Then we drove at home, ate something and later we went by bus again in the city and went shopping. Later in the evening we came home and went to bed.
On the fourth day we were in the school and later we walked to the candy factory "Fazer". There we could eat chocolate as much as we liked. We did it!!! The chokolate and the candy were very delicious. We liked it. After it we were in the city and bought postcards and other things.
On the last day, the fifth day we said Good bye to our exchange families and the other people and flew back to Germany at 13.25. We arrived happily about on hour later in Berlin/Tegel.

CRISS-CROSS . Here I feel well
The place that makes me feel well is the book shop which is near my house. It's not very big but every shelf is full of books. The room is divided into three parts. When you enter the shop if you turn to the left there are the historical and psychological books but if you go straight on you will see the fantastic and adventurous books for younger people and also in the back of the shop there's the area for children with lots of childish books.
I prefer staying in the teens’ area. I usually spend hours reading all the backs of the books whose tittle sounds interesting and then I try to decide which one I'm going to buy. This is always the hardest part cause I found all the books interesting but I just can buy one. Nowadays books are so expensive!
My biggest wish
I have got lots of wishes but I think the most important for me now is to pass all subjects this year.
My worries
Well, I don't have many worries but maybe one of them could be what I'm going to do in the future, although it doesn't affect me in my daily life.
Happiness for me
Happiness for me is staying with my friends in another country far away from school and home, learning new things and meeting new people without timetables.
My future
I have no idea about what is going to happen to me in the future but I expect to live in another country and have an interesting job.

Criss-Cross. Here I feel well
Here I feel well
Sometimes, daily life is too stressing, so I go to Castrelos Park to calm down. There thinking is so easy that it simply flows... I'd like to get a good job as a vet and live in a detached house with my family, so I need to get good marks, which worries me a lot. Exams are really stressing, but I always go there for a walk with my dog, which helps me relax when I have to study, that's the reason why I get good marks :P
My life, my problems... everything looks different when nature is around you and no one can disturb the echo of your mind, that echo that you can't hear in the city, among people, pollution, noise... There you can only hear the sound and smell of wildlife.
I like being able to go to Castrelos Park whenever I want, it's near my home. It's a nice park where you can spend your time: it has got a trekking track, shadowy corners, an amphitheater for summer performances, a pond with ducks, a mannor house which is a museum with an amazing garden...
In my opinion, it's the best place to go in the summer in the whole world.

REGIONAL DISHES: ORELLAS BY SPANISH STUDENTS
In Carnival we dress-up, we eat pork meat and "orellas".
INGREDIENTS:
400 g flour, 2 eggs, 100 g
butter, water, salt , anisette, baking powder, olive oil, sugar.
PREPARATION:
The butter must be soft. In a bowl, mix the flour with the
baking powder, and make a hole in the middle. Add the eggs, sugar, water, anisette and butter.
Mix it slowly and, then, knead the dough on a floury table, so it becomes elastic, not sticky, and soft, adding more water or flour if necessary. Leave it for half an hour and make the “orellas”. To make “orellas”:
Take pieces of 50g of dough and extend it on a floury table and make it very fine. Then cut it in smaller pieces and fry them, in a frying pan full of very hot olive oil. Fry them on both sides. Then, put some sugar on them.

Criss Cross -Here I feel well
My favourite place is an amusement or theme park , like Terra Mítica in Valencia or DisneyLand in Paris because I can go with my friends, and have a good time. It’s exciting. My favourite ride is the switchback
My biggest wish would be to be world champion of triathlon. I do swimming, cycling and running
I haven’t got any worries.
Happiness for me is to stay with my family and friends.
Ten years later, I will finish my university studies.
Antonio Serrat Seoane
Hi my name is Victor , I’m fourteen years old. I live in Vigo, Spain.
My favourite place is a village near Vigo, its name is Menduiña, it’s by the sea. There I can go to the beach and to the mountain. In the beach I swim and go fishing
My biggest wish is to get good marks at school, because that’s important to get a good job.
I haven’t got any worries.
Happiness for me is to stay with my family and friends.
In ten years I don’t know what I will do.

Criss Cross- Here I feel well
My favourite place is New York. I like it because it’s a very big and beautiful city and you can find everything there. You can visit new places everyday, there are a lot of cinemas, music concerts, places to go out, shops... I’d like to live there when I am older.
But my biggest wish is not to spend my life in New York. All that I really want to do is be happy in good company. Hapiness for me doesn’t exist if you don’t share it.
My worries are to have a good job with a good income. As somebody said: “Money doesn’t mean happiness, but it makes you feel such similar sensations that it could be really difficult to distinguish it”.
In ten years I’d like to be doing what I like to do . At the moment I’m not very sure about what I’d like to do but maybe to be a journalist or a film scriptwriter, it really interests me.

Criss Cross Here I feel well
Hello, I'm Isa, I'm 16 and I live in Vigo.
My favourite places are cities on the coast, like Vigo, Bueu...because I love the sea, especially here; in the summer, when we can sunbathe.
My biggest wish... I guess that having friends and people around that I can listen to and who can help me when I need it, and knowing that there are reliable people all over the world.
Worries? Knowing what I will became in the future, what I'm going to do, and knowing that I'm going to be in good company.
Hapiness for me is knowing that the people who I love, feel good.
In ten years...When I'm 26 I'd like to have a good job, without worrying about money, and to keep all that I have now.
